Out of Context

1 Timothy 4:4 For every creation of God is good and no food is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.

We can take any verse out of the Bible and make it say what we want it to say.  Today, Thanksgiving in the United States, we could interpret this verse to mean we can stuff ourselves with all the food we can find as long as we are thankful for it.  It is so important not to read just one verse.  Even though I only quote one verse in most of these devotions I hope each reader takes their own Bible and reads the verses before and after the one quoted.   Whenever we take anything out of context we can have the wrong understanding.  Politicians have had their careers ruined by people quoting just one sentence they said out of the context they said it.  Today, let us be thankful for the entire Bible and all the people who were willing to listen to His Holy Spirit and record the words of God, the walk of Jesus and the events of the early church of believers.
