Philippians 2:8 He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross!

As we continue to prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus on this earth and prepare for His return, we must consider humility.  People, by nature, are prideful.  We like to think we are the ones in the right.  We like to think we deserve the best of all things. Jesus was with His Father in heaven.  He is Father God’s only Son..  He has every reason to be proud and to expect the  best of all things.  Yet He was willing to humble Himself, leave the side of His Father, God, and be born into a family considered to be low-class and in a smelly and dirty stable surrounded by animals.  Not only was His birth on this earth humble, He lived humbly with no place to call His own and was put to death between two common thieves.  All this in obedience to His Father and out of love for us prideful, sinful people.  What do we have to be so proud of?  Our question is are we willing to humble ourselves before God confessing our pride and sinfulness?  Are we willing to humble ourselves before fellow people by loving and serving them through the love of God?  We each must answer those questions.
