2 Timothy 2:15  Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

There was a slogan several years ago for the United States Army: “Be all you can be in the Army.”  God puts it another way in 2 Timothy 2:15.  He says we must study and be eager to do what we learn.  What are we to study?  We are to study all that is written in the Holy Bible, the rich love letter and Manufacturer’s book God has provided for us.  There are many ways to study this Word bit all must begin with prayer.  We must pray for open minds and hearts to the interpretation of the Word through God’s Holy Spirit for our on individual lives in our own space and time.  It is fine to do a historical study but we must never neglect a personal study.  It is fine to use commentaries but we still must be careful to listen to what God would have for us in our time and place.  All interpretations must agree with the overall content of His Word.  God does not conflict himself.  It is not from God if it doesn’t agree with the two greatest commandments Jesus quoted in Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said to him, “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
Our question is are we going to obey and study in prayer?  If so, are we willing to carry out with eagerness what we learn?  Here to we need prayer and His Holy Spirit.  Let us be sure to guard our time and do both.
