Romans 15:13. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

It was difficult to settle on just one verse about joy.  The Bible is full of verses on joy. So many of us think my is a monetary emotin.  We think’s it through outside stimulation like food, drink, money, entertainment and any form of self-gratification.  These things can bring a brief experience of emotional elation but as they fade away so does our elation.  The joy the Bible talks about is the joy given us by God through the fruits of His Holy Spirit.  This joy is more than an emotion.  It is part of God’s character and when we receive God’s Son, Jesus, into our being we receive His joy.  Our question is do we recognize and receive His joy?  So often we give our mouths and thoughts over to complaints.  We take the attitude of “woe is me, life is so hard.”  How do we plug into God’s joy? It is through the power of His Holy Spirit.  If we have received Jesus into our being, we have His Holy Spirit and the seeds os all the fruits: (Galatians 5:22). But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,   We can choose to allow God to bring growth to these seeds of fruits or we can choose to keep our minds set on our sinful selfish desires.  It’s our choice.  We can choose to walk in His joy which is eternal or walk with sinful and fleeting imitation of joy.  Hs joy is great and eternal.  Let our mouths, thoughts and actions reflect His joy.
