Romans 8:17. And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ) – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.

What a wonderful promise.  When we receive Jesus, God’s Son, into our we become joint heirs with Jesus.  What is it that Jesus is heir to?  He is heir to all God has.  As joint heirs we share equally in all Jesus has.  We like to think that only includes what we consider to be the riches and what we consider to be the plush benefits.  As heirs we must partake of all that comes which includes responsibilities we might not consider as being pleasant. When we become heirs we have responsibilities to be good stewards.  We must do whatever is necessary to care for and ensure the continuation of what God continually gives.  What is it He gives?  God gives love, forgiveness, eternal life and the fruits and power of His Holy Spirit.  When we don’t make use of what God gives we are turning our backs on our inheritance.  How do we make use of the heritage God gives us?  We make use of it in the same way Jesus showed us as He walked this earth.  Our question is are we willing to take the responsibilities along with the blessings?  Let us choose to showing God our love and thanks by welcoming all He brings our way.
