Repeating Prayer

Matthew 26:44. So leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same thing once more.

Jesus knew  He was about to be taken to the cross.  He was in a physical body just like we are.  He really didn’t want o face it but was determined to follow the will of His Father.  What did He do to get the ability to face such horror?  He prayed fervently to the Father.  He didn’t pray just one Imelda.  He repeated the same request 3 times.  We tend to lose hope quickly.  We pray once and if we don’t see results we give up.  So many think repeating the same request over and over shows a lack of faith.  Jesus I’d not lack any faith.  What the recitative prayer does is fill us with the assurance of God’s power in and through us for Him to carry out His purpose through us.  As we remember the anguish of this Friday let us learn from Jesus never to give up on our requests to God until His Holy Spirit tells us it is time.  After His 3rd prayer Jesus knew it was time, He woke Hid disciples and went to face what was soon to come.  Notice the disciples slept instead of prayed.  Instead of facing what was coming the ran in fear.
