John 20:22. And after he said this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

We don’t know if this is a second appearance on that first night or a continuation of the appearance written in Matthew.  Through the Holy Spirit each gospel writer wrote what most impressed them.  Here Jesus breathed on them and told them to receive the Holy Spirit.  This is the same as when we first welcome Jesus into our lives.  The disciples didn’t realize what was given them.  This will happen in Acts after Jesus ascends to heaven.  The event in Acts is very intense and dramatic.  When we first realize the Holy Spirit is in us and wants to flow through us it might be intense or it might be slow and quiet.  Each of us becomes aware in differing amounts of time.  The Holy Spirit is like a pretty gift.  Some like the wrapping so much they only admire it.  Some open it carefully but are hesitant to use it.  Some open it and are in and out of using it.  Some open it with open arms and quickly learn to use it.  Our question is where are we in opening up the gift of the Holy Spirit and using it?
