Door of Doubt

John 20:26. Eight days later the disciples were again together in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked,  Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

We do not know what Jesus did between the 1st day and this 8th day.  Apparently we don’t need to know which might be hard for some of us to take.  What counts here is Jesus continuing to reassure them.  Thomas’s signaled out.  He wasn’t with the other 10 on that first day when Jesus first appeared. Even though he knew the others well he refused to believe their accounts of seeing Jesus.  Maybe his distrust came because of the way Judas betrayed Jesus.  None of them ever expected such betrayal would come through one of their own.  Jesus is patient with Thomas and shows Him proof.  We all have moments of doubts like Thomas.  They usually arise from hurts in the past.  It is important we give all our hurts and disappointments to God for healing, forgiveness of others and forgiveness of self.  When we fail to do this we open the doors of doubt.  Our question is how open is our door?  Let us be sure to open all things within us to the healing and forgiving touch of God so the door of doubt remains closed.
