Acts 1:3-5. To the same apostles also, after his suffering, he presented himself alive with many convincing proofs. He was seen by them over a forty-day period and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God. While he was with them, he declared,  “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what my Father promised, which you heard about from me. For a John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

First Jesus told the disciples to meet Him In Galilee.  Apparently, at some time during those 40 days He told them to go back to Jerusalem.  He had been teaching them about the kingdom of God.  Now He gave them some more instructions.  He told them to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the Holy Spirit.  Jerusalem was not their home turf but it was the center for the Hebrews to worship God in the temple.  It was also full of people from many other nations.  Unknown to the disciples Jesus was putting them in a place where many from many nations would witness the beginnings of the Christian Church.  Many times we don’t understand why we are in unfamiliar places at certain times.  Unlike the disciples we need not wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit for that gift is available as soon as we ask Jesus to be our Lord and Savior.  Our question is when we find ourselves in such a lace do we ask Him for instructions?
