Meeting Needs

John 2:4 Jesus replied, “Woman, why are you saying this to me? My time has not yet come.”

Jesus was with His mother at a wedding. The host ran out of wine and Mary, Jesus’ mother, knew Jesus was capable to take care of the problem. I’m sure you agree Jesus didn’t come to earth to make wine for wedding guest. Apparently He wasn’t ready to reveal His powers. But His mother pointed out a need and He complied. He turned water into wine. We see many needs around us. Many times the people who normally would meet those needs aren’t available are aren’t able to do so at the time. Just because we don’t normally do a particular thing doesn’t mean we are never to do it. When we see a need we are to meet it if we at all can, even if it isn’t “our job” to do so.There is no need beneath us. We taught our children if they see something on the floor that shouldn’t be there it doesn’t matter how it got there or who put it there, they were to pick it up. Let us not avert our eyes from needs we see, hoping someone else will come and meet them. Let us respond to what God allows our eyes to see.
