James 1:13. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

We are tested through temptations but it is not God Who does the tempting. We are tempted through our own sinfulness. We often choose what seems good and pleasing because we don’t have the faith to wait for the best and the fulfilling. We often think only of what we want, forgetting that God has our best interests and His glory for us. When we are honest with ourselves we must admit we know when giving in to the temptation is not in God’s best for us. We just don’t care. After all, God is forgiving. Our thoughts are unloving and unfaithful. Let us remember the temptations faced by Jesus right after He was baptised. He had a single purpose. Do the Father’s will. Only be obedient and faithful. Our question is, when we are tempted, and we will be regularly, will we check it out with God in prayer or we stuff God back and go ahead anyway? God doesn’t tempt us but He does give us the freedom of choice. Let us choose love and faith and obedience.
