Examine Yourself

Genesis 22:2. God a said, “Take your son- your only son, whom you love, Isaac and go to the land of Moriah! Offer him up there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will indicate to you.”

The command of God for Abraham to sacrifice his only son, the promise of God, seems hateful and cruel. But God had a very legitimate reason for this. Abraham began to love his son more than he loved God. He was putting his son first in his life. God wants and demands to be first in our lives and rightly so. This was a test for Abraham to realize Who Gos is compared to all else. God was ready to intervene. Our question is, is there anything or anyone in our lives that we place before God? That’s a hard question to be honest with. Let us take some time this week to examine ourselves. That is what we are told to do in 2 Corinthians 13:5
“Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! ”
