Passing It On

Matthew 14:19. Then he instructed the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and two fish, and looking up to heaven he gave thanks and broke the loaves. He gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.

Besides the example of giving thanks before every meal there is another lesson here. Notice Jesus only passed the food to the disciples. He expected the disciples to pass what He gave them on o others. It is the same today. God doesn’t bless us just for ourselves. He expects us to pass our blessings on to others. Church members tend to think the paid staff should do it all: hospital visitation, shut-in visitation, neighborhood visitation, phone calls and many other out reaches. The members that don’t get out and do some of these are the ones missing a blessing. As we give what we have we make more room for more in us. The question is are we hanging on to our time or do we recognize our time is God’s time. Let us go visit or phone someone in need today.
