A Missed Opportunity

Proverbs 3:28. Do not say to your neighbor, “Go! Return tomorrow and I will give it,” when you have it with you at the time.

I had 2 children under 18 months of age and was very busy. A dear aunt paid to send antique furniture and family heirlooms to me from New York to Georgia. I received them with great joy and knew I needed to send her a thank you note. I was busy and time slipped by. My aunt died without ever k owing my thanks. A missed opportunity I have never forgotton. Our question is how many opportunities do we miss: an opportunity to tell someone what Jesus did and what He means to us, an opportunity to pray with someone, to thank or encourage someone. There are so many opportunities to reach out in love but we allow distractions to interfere. Time moves only in one direction — forward. We cannot go back. There are no re-runs. Let us pray to ask the Holy Spirit to help make us aware of opportunities in time to use them to the glory of God.
