Beyond Understanding

2 Timothy 2:10. Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Salvation exceeds our understanding. It cannot be earned. It cannot be bought. We can’t even understand what we have been saved from. We can’t really know what we might be saved from since we are saved from experiencing it. We can only know what we have in the present. To fully experience the salvation of God in the present we must be sure we have confessed the past, received God’s forgiveness, forgiven ourselves and others and out the past behind. We must also leave the future in God’s hands. What better hands could our future ever be in? Let us live in the salvation of this day and flow free in the joy of God’s gift of salvation.

Who’s Reading You

Ephesians 5:1. Therefore, be a imitators of God as dearly loved children

People are always watching each other. Others are reading us. They may never read a Bible but they are reading how we live, speak and act. Our question is when others are reading us do the see what is recorded in the Bible and the reflection of Jesus? We are a book to others and others judge by what they hear and see. For us to be imitators of God we must know God. Jesus demonstrated God to us when He walked this earth. We read and meditate on the words describing His walk but we must more than meditate on His walk. We must ask His Holy Spirit to enable us to imitate Jesus. We may not know who is reading us but we are responsible for what the read in us. Let them read the light of God when they read us.

Holding On

Colossians 3:13. forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye:

We, as sinful beings, like to hold on to our hurts. We keep our grudges against others. We express our hurts and anger in many different ways. This causes stress to our bodies, our emotions, those around us and our relationship with our God. We say the words, “forgive us our debts or trespasses AS we forgive those against us,” say Amen and go on our way holding on to our hurts and anger. We might think to let go of these feelings means the ones who offended us should seek our forgiveness. That condition is not found in scripture. Our forgiveness of others doesn’t hinge on them. The only condition is our choice. We can choose to turn our hurts and anger over to God”s love and move on with Him or carry these in our hearts and mind being in broken relationships both with God and with others. Our question is what are we holding that we need to release?

Friends

Matthew 26:38. Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”

Jesus is One with God. Even when He walked the earth He had the constant Presemce with God the Father. Yet Jesus still needed the comfort, encouragement and support of His closest friends. We also need some close friends. But this kind of friendship cannot be a one-way relationship. We must be the same kind of friends we want others to be. A close friend has listening ears and lives without judgement. A close friend will drop all plans to help a friend in need. Our question is what kind of friend are we? It is up to us to reach out first, not wait until someone reaches out to us. It is not a question of giving back of one of giving without expecting back.

Who Gets the Glory

John 6:15. Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

Jesus refused being declaired king several times. The first time was when Satan tempted Him right after His baptism. His own disciples tried to have Him declaiired king. Jesus came to earth not to obtain glory for Himself but to glorify God. We put people on pedistales like kings; actors, sports figures, millionaires, religious leaders and others. It is our encouragement that increases their desire for power and glory and we see them crumble and fall into temptations. Our question is dowe want to follow the example of Jesus and give all glory to God or do we want glory or ourselves or others we think we want to hold as our goal to imitate? Let us be sure to give God all credit and glory.

Identity

Matthew 16:16-17 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar- Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

People are not recognizes for who they say they are. We can claim to be anyone. People gain their identity by what they do and how they act. The recognition of Who Jesus is doesn’t come from other people. Other people”s words and actions can only cause others to look from the reflection of Jesus they see in people to looking at Jesus for themselves. This is only possible through the revelation that comes from God. We are to reflect Jesus so others will see and look to Him for their own salvation. When they look for themselves God will quicken in them through His Holy Spirit until they bow before Him with the conviction of Who He is. Our question is are we keeping His reflection in us clear nought for others to want to see for themselves?

New Self

Ephesians 4:24. and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

How many times have you looked at a picture of yourself and thrown it out because of one mall thing. It may have been how your hair looked, your facial expression, what you were wearing or a number of other little things. It is the little things that can distort the reflection. We must ask ourselves what little thing is marring the reflection of The glory of God in us through the presence of His Holy Spirit? It could be our attitude, an unconfessed sin, a hand not given to any other thing that would keep the veil of separation on us hiding Gos’s glory. Let us take Imelda every day to allow His Holy Spirit to show us anything clouding God”s glory.

Circumcised Hearts

Matthew 25:12. But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you. ’

We can grow up being taught about Jesus. We can have all knowledge of how a Christian should act and talk. Knowledge doesn’t make us a follower and believer in Jesus. Satan has that knowledge. It is only with a commitment of the heart of love that we can be true followers of Christ. We no longer need to circumcise our bodies but we must circumcise our hearts. We must cut out the love we have for sin and allow God’s Holy Spirit to replace it with a love for God. Our s question is are our hearts circumcised?

Fertile Ground

Matthew 13:4-7. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.

God provides us with a variety of ways to learn more about Him so we can be one His reflection. Our question is what kind of soil are we? When we read a devotion or scriptures do we allow the business of the rest of the day crowd out what we read? When we listen toa sermon do we really listen and take notes sower can meditate on it later? When we go about our day do we allow God to fertilize the seeds through the various circumstances He allows to come our way? Let us be sure to keep our soil fertile through prayer, confession and meditation that we don”t miss any of the ways God chooses to teach us.
