Missed Voice

Isaiah 42:2. He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street;

The disciples forgot about this scripture when Jesus was walking with them. They expected a messiah who would gather an army around him and yell out conquering words. We still miss this scripture. We expect God to speak to us loud enough to interrupt our distractions. We think it is up to Him to command our attention. We don’t hear Him though our days because we don’t expect to and we don’t tune our ears to hear Him above our distractions. Just as the original 12 disciples had to learn to listen, we must be willing to learn to hear His quiet voice above our loud distractions. Our question is what voice is most important to us; the quiet voice of God through His Holy Spirit or te noisy clamor of our own minds and the voices in this sinful world?
