Matthew 18:30. But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

This is the story about the man who owed a large sum but was forgiven and released from it. Then he turned and wouldn’t forgive someone who owed him even less. We are quick to judge and criticize others for the very things we do or think. This makes us become hard of hearing to God’s words. We don’t mind looking at others and judging them but we like to keep our eyes shut and ears closed when it comes to our thoughts and actions. (Matthew 13:15). “For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.” When we don’t understand what God is saying to us either through the scripture or through mediation we must open ourselves to judge our own thoughts and actions, seek forgiveness for our judgements of others and forgiveness for our own thoughts and actions. Then give that forgiveness we receive to others so our eyes can see and our ears hear and our hearts understand.
