Colossians 4:2. Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.

Our question is how do we apply the example Jesus gave us to our prayers. Our primary time of prayer should be modeled after ACTS. We address our prayer to God our Father and acknowledge Who He is by calling Him some of the different aspects like all-knowing, all-powerful, etc. we admit out sins and ask for forgiveness. This includes the perceived sins of others against us. We accept God’s forgiveness. We thank God for Who He is, what He has done and what He will do. Then we lay our requests before Him, thanking Him for hearing us. Then comes our time to be quiet and listen. As we learn to listen it helps to write what comes into our minds. Do we always need to pray after the ACTS pattern? No. Prayer is a 2-way conversation between us and God. We can and should keep a conversation going throughout each day. The ACTS model is for our prayer and meditation time. Let us use this model along with our running conversation throughout each day.
