Hunger for What?

Matthew 5:6. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Our question is do we really hunger and thirst for God’s righteousness for all or just for ourselves? What if what we perceive to be our righteousness steps on the righteousness of others? For what righteousness do we hunger and thirst? The right question is whose righteousness do we seek? We read Romans 3:22 “namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction,”.Synonyms for righteous include just, holy, without sin. The only righteousness we can seek is God’s through His Son, Jesus. It isn’t a question of what is in it for us but what is in it for God and His glory. When we seek for all we think, say and do to be for God’s glory instead of our own or our convenience we can be filled with God’s righteousness.
