Don’t Rejoice

Proverbs 24:17. Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and when he stumbles do not let your heart rejoice

We say we don’t rejoice over the faults and/or failures of others. If that is so, why are we so quick to share them with others? Sharing the shortcomings of others with other people is a form of rejoicing. It makes us feel better about our own shortcomings when we can talk about those of others. This isn’t love. Love sees the best hopes for the best and desires the best. Next time we’re tempted to share with someone what someone else did or didn’t do let’s remember we are to be loving, not judging, compassionate not rejoicing.
