Alone in Silence

Lamentations 3:28. Let a person sit alone in silence, when the Lord is disciplining him.

When things aren’t going our way, we’re confused, troubled, worried upset, etc. it is time to get away by ourselves and sit in silence before our God. We are continually bombarded with noise and distractions. These make it hard for us to hear what our God would whisper quietly within our spirits. We really need some time each and every day to be in silence away from any distractions to listen to our God before we reach the times first described here. It is in the quiet that God speaks and we can hear. But when we do get into the quiet let’s be sure we don’t block all from our mind. We must first pray and ask God’s Holy Spirit to quiet all thoughts that aren’t put there by God. We should be sure to have something to write what we hear. It’s amazing how fast the noise and distractions of this world can drown out the calm and still voice of God within our spirits.
