Do Good and Share

Hebrews 13:16 And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

We are into the season of giving. There are food drives, toy drives, clothing drives and buckets for cash. Our question is are we giving from what we no longer want or are we giving from our best to Hod for His glory. Some time ago a family in our church lost everything in a fire. The call went out for donations of everything. A friend went through her linen closet looking for som old bed sheets. On the top was a new, unopened set. She kept moving it out of her way to find some she no longer wanted. Then she heard that quiet, inner voice if God say, “you would give me your left-overs instead of your best?” She pulled out the new, unopened set of sheets to give. Before we laugh we must consider our own giving. Do we see what money is left or do we give God the first 10% of our income? Do we donate clothes that need repairing or are stained or do we give something we would wear? Do we give food we would eat or unwanted food? Do we wait for the “season of giving” or give whenever we hear of a need? Let us not neglect to do good and share of our best throughout the year.
