Interruption

Luke 2:8-12. Now there were shepherds nearby living out in the field, keeping guard over their flock at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were absolutely terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, for I proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people: Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you:You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”

The shepherds were going about their normal, routine jobs when they had a Devine interruption. They were not expecting it and were terrified. They did calm down enough to pay attention. Not only did the angel tell them what just happened. He also told them how to identify this one special baby from the others just born. Sometimes while we’re going about our normal routines we have Devine interruptions. They may not be through an angel but they are orchestrated by God. Our question is are we willing to stop and listen? It could be a friend or stranger who needs help. When we keep a listening ear tuned to the inner voice of God’s Holy Spirit we will have opportunities to be blessed by God and have God bless others through us. Let us listen for those divine interruptions.
