Change of Direction

Matthew 2:11. As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

The wise men found Jesus in a house, not in the manger. We don’t know why Joseph and Mary decided to remain in Jerusalem, but we do know God moved them into His prophetic path. Joseph was warned in a dream to leave Jerusalem in a hurry. In Hosea 11:1 we read “When Israel was a young man, I loved him like a son, and I summoned my son out of Egypt.” There was no way Joseph would have gone to live in Egypt had it not been for the persecution of Herod against all male babies born in the 2 year period. Sometimes it seems we are on a strange or wrong path. Like Joseph, we must trust God’s direction over our lives. Our question is, like Joseph, are we ever listening and ready to respond to an apparent change of direction?
