Thoughts Don’t Hurt?

Matthew 5:27. “You have heard that it was said, Do not commit adultery.

Jesus thought it important enough to quote Exodus 20:14. “You shall not commit adultery. “. When we think this is no problem for us we must read what He said after He quoted it. Jesus said a roving eye or thought is no different from the act. God sees more than our outward actions. He knows every thought that passes through our minds. What really counts is what we do with the thoughts that enter our minds. We have a choice. We can keep the thought, embellish on the thought and/or enjoy the thought or we can come against the thought and in the powerful name of Jesus, cast it out of our minds. We full ourselves when we think keeping the thought for a little while won’t hurt. Enjoying something that God says is wrong is a sin and grieves God. As part of lent let us practice putting out all thoughts not in line with God’s word.
