Unity of Thoughts and Actions

Luke 18:20. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother. ”

Jesus didn’t quote all the commandments but He singled out these 5. Many think they obey all 5 of these. The man Jesus was quoting these to thought he was keeping them all. Jesus said something else to that prideful man. Jesus told him to sell all he had and give it away and follow him. This deals with the heart attitude. We can be very obedient on the outside yet our hearts are not always in line with our obedience. If we covet to own something someone else has we are stealing in our minds. If we say something against someone we are murdering their spirit. We call distinguish false testimonies as big lies and “white” lies. Let us work, or rather ask God’s Holy Spirit to work in us making our inner thoughts and desires to agree with our actions and oral confessions of walking in unity with God, our Father.
