Hosea 6:6. For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Jesus quoted this verse at least 2 times. Matthew 9:13 “Go and learn what this saying means: I want mercy and not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” And in Matthew 12:7. “If you had known what this means: I want mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent.” Read the different occasions for His quote. Let’s relate it to today. How many times have we criticized, made fun of or judged someone? We even do this while sitting in our churches which we refer to as “God’s house.” We think we can offer up the sacrifice of praise and then judge someone else. This doesn’t show mercy. These type of thoughts, words and actions show a lack of knowledge of God on our part. God has great mercy on us. He continually forgives us and lives is. Who are we to do less to others?
