I Am Sovereign

Genesis 35:11. Then God said to him, “I am the sovereign God. Be fruitful and multiply! A nation-even a company of nations-will descend from you; kings will be among your descendants!

God describes Himself as “the sovereign God.” “Sovereign” is defined as “a supreme ruler, one who possesses supreme or ultimate power.” God is sovereign. He alone has the ultimate power over all creation. He allows His creation limited and temporary power. As we’ve read in Job, even Satan has to stay within the limited power God temporarily allows him. Satan strove to be AS God instead of like God. He enticed Adam and Eve to be AS God rather than be in the image of God, reflecting Who God is through them. We still strive to be AS God rather than reflecting and mirroring God. Our question is will we allow God to be sovereign over all of our being throughout each day He gives us on this earth?
