I Am the Blotter

Isaiah 43:25. I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake;
your sins I do not remember.

How wonderful. God not only forgives our rebellious deeds, He blots them out. When we forgive someone the memory of the act is still with us. We just try to not hold it against them or “get even.” When God forgives it is as if they never existed; they are gone forever and our slate is clean. God says He doesn’t do it for us but for His own sake. God loves us and wants us to be part of Him. By His own rules and nature, God can have no part of sin in Him. Therefore, for us to be in Him our sin must be no more. Our sins are no longer in His memory. They are in our memory. We have to be sure not to confess the same sin event over and over to God. We can only do that when we accept His forgiveness and forgive ourselves. We must then put it behind us and move forward with God. Let’s make a practice of leaving the past behind, living in the present and trusting God for the future.
