God’s Time

Acts 1:26 And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Do you remember the disciples were told to wait? It’s hard to wait. Once we know we should do something we want to get on with it. The disciples know they needed a replacement for Judas so they used their own knowledge and picked Matthias. Yes, they did pray first but they didn’t have the power or ears of the Holy Spirit to hear God’s choice. God was preparing a man called Saul, later renamed Paul, for the 12th disciple. We never hear from Matthias after he was picked. I’m sure he did some things to forward the ministry but they are not recorded. God will use our mistakes for His glory but we miss out when we don’t wait on God for His timing and His answers. I know in my own life there have been many times I have pushed ahead on my own with something I knew God wanted. His will was eventually accomplished each time, sometimes through my own bumbling and difficult effort and sometime by others who actually waited until they knew God’s way and timing. Instead of being frustrated by the waiting I am learning to spend thee time in prayer and rejoicing for what appears to me as God’s delay, knowing he is preparing all to work together for our good and His glory.
