Light That Shines

John 3:19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

In the first half of the book of John Jesus shows His identity through signs. One of thee major signs is light. Jesus said He is the light of the world. Evil likes to hide in darkness. It doesn’t want to be shown as evil. Jesus came to expose the evil for what it is and show us the way to bask in the Light of God. His Light continues to shine today. Many try to extinguish His Light but His Light is inextinguishable. There is no power strong enough to put it out. Jesus wants His light to shine through us by the power of His Holy Spirit. We have the option of keeping His light hidden or allowing His light to shine out through us. When I first met Jesus I didn’t want any symbols of Christianity on my car. I didn’t want others to see those symbols and see me drive in a discourteous manner. Then I realized God sees me driving all the time. I changed my driving habits to allow His light to shine through me even when I’m driving. We must continually ask ourselves if there are areas where we are blocking His light from shining.
