Deuteronomy 6:5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

This verse is quoted throughout the Bible. Our problem in English is the word “love.” We use that word in so many ways. We might want to relate it to the word “adore.” To adore something you put it first in your heart and mind. You seek after it at all cost. You worship it with all of your being. This is the concept of love God requires. He is a jealous God and wants nothing between Him and His children. We sing at Christmas “O comes let us adore Him” but do we, or do we just enjoy the fun and emotions of the season. We just celebrated Mother’s Day. Most of us took time to give our mothers special thanks and attention on that day. What about the rest of the year? Our human tendency is to slip in and out of closer relationships. Our relationship with God is one which we should never slip out of. We need to learn to keep Him continually in the forefront of our mind, our hearts and our hearing. Just as a new mother is constantly attuned to her new baby’s cry we need to constantly be attuned to the inner voice of God through His Holy Spirit. Let us turn our love into true adoration
