The Bridge

Hebrews 9:8 The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing.

Please read all of the first 11 verses in chapter 9. This is a description of the Old Covenant believers who lived under temporary sacrifices and who could not approach the Holy of Holies because of their sin state. They knew the repetitive pattern of sacrifices of animals but they couldn’t experience the final forgiveness of sins. If you skip over to Hebrews 9:34 you will find Christ settled the final forgiveness. Blood sacrifices are never needed again. The vale separating the people from the holies of holies in the temple has been torn in half from the top down when Christ died on the cross. (Matthew 27:51 Just then the temple curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks were split apart.) There is now nothing that separates us from God save for our own decision to remain separated. Jesus bridges the separation and through Him we can be forgiven and can approach the throne of God. Our question is are we taking time to enter thee holy of holies through prayer and meditation to be in the presence of God?
