And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
John 11:43

Jesus delayed His coming to Lazarus. He wanted all to know without a doubt that Lazarus was dead. When He did get there He didn’t just say, “Come forth.” He used the name of Lazarus. The instructions to come forth, to come back to life in a physical form on this earth were given specifically to Lazarus. If they had been generalized instructions all the dead would come forth. Jesus was showing He had the power over death. He showed He had selective power over death as well. Jesus calls each one of us individually by name to come forth. We can begin living the eternal life in His presence the moment we answer His call. The moment we answer He puts His Holy Spirit in us to begin that eternal life with Him. Our question is have we responded to His call? If so, are we living that eternal life in His presence?
