John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Jesus breathed on the disciples and told them to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the very breath of God. Breath is life. Without breath there is no life. In breath is manifested presence, revelation, knowledge, provision and communion. Our physical bodies can do nothing without breath. Our spirits are dead without God’s breath of life – the Hoy Spirit. As with the physical breath we take we must inhale and exhale continually to maintain that life. We must do the same with God’s Holy Spirit. It is not a one time big gulp. It is a continual breathing in His Holy Spirit and breathing out His love, joy, peace, power, forgiveness and on and on to those around us. As Jesus infuses us with His Holy Spirit we can share that Spirit with those around us. We can direct them to “the breath of life.” Our question is are we continually breathing or holding our breath? If we are breathing are we sharing it with those around us?
