John 17:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you,

This is my favorite chapter in the Bible. This is the chapter with Jesus’ prayer where He prays for us. Until our student pastor brought it to our attention I never noticed the significance of Jesus praying for Himself before He prayed for others. If Jesus, God in flesh, needed to pray for Himself before others how much more do I need to do the same. If I am not right with God, if I am not full of His power and Hiss glory, how can I intercede for others? Just like on an airplane they tell us to put our air mask on before we help others, it is necessary to be sure we are in a position to help. It is not selfish to pray for ourselves to be full of God. It is most necessary if we age to be a vessel for His Light and power to shine forth to others.
