John 14:20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

Jesus is talking about the day when His Holy Spirit will come on and into the disciples. It is the in filling of His Holy Spirit that confirms the reality of Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus and God are One with the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit enters us after we receive Jesus in our hearts, minds and lives, we become One with Jesus in the same way He is One with the Spirit and the Father. Jesus continues to explain the oneness with another word: (John 15:1) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.” For a branch to be one with a vine it must be embedded in the vine. It receives its life through nourishment from the vine. Apart from the vine the branch withers and dies. It is the same with us. Apart from Jesus we are withered and fated to die. Jesus, the vine, nourishes us through His written word by way of His Holy Spirit. Jesus says the Father is the vinedresser or gardener. The gardener prunes dead branches and shapes the branches for the vine to be the best. The gardener provides the light and water necessary for growth. The Father provided the water and light through His Son, Jesus. As we become embedded in Him we receive His Light and Water through the Holy Spirit. Our question is are we staying embedded?
