Gift of Grace

Acts 15:11 On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they are.”

We are told to “abide” in Christ. How do we abide? First, it is only by the grace of God that we can abide. It is God’s grace that sent His Son to suffer our penalty of sin. It is God’s grace that forgives us. How do we realize God’s grace? The only thing we can do is to accept it. His grace is freely given to us by His choice. There is nothing we can do to earn it. We can never be deserving of it. We can only receive it gratefully and thankfully. His grace is a gift of love. As with all gifts, the one who the gift is given to has a choice: reject it, receive it but just look at it or question it, receive it fully and use it. We use His grace by living in obedience to His commands to love Him with all our heart, mind and strength and love our neighbors as ourselves. (For loving ourselves refers to the devotion entitled “Me First.”) God’s grace is there for each one of us. The question is what are we doing with this most precious gift?
