Function of the Holy Spirit

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

The Holy Spirit is a being in and by Himself. He was with God the Father and God the Son from the very beginning. They each know each other intimately. Though they are 3 beings they are entwined in One. God wants us entwined with Him. He sent the Son, Jesus to show us the love of the Father. The Son sent us the Spirit to direct us to the Son so through the Son our sins could be forgiven and we can approach and be with the Father. The Holy Spirit is the Son and the Father indwelling in us. His function is to turn our hearts, minds and eyes to the Son and through the Son to the Father. He does that by teaching us all things. As we read the Bible He interprets it for us for our time and space and needs. As we pray, He prays through us encouraging us in our payers. As we make choices if we would listen, He instructs us in the way we should go. Our problem is we are in too much of a hurry to listen. Let us take time to be aware of His presence within us and learn to listen to His directions.
