Stewards of Our Bodies

1 Corinthians 6:13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Our bodies belong to God. We are merely stewards of our bodies. We are to care for them a God’s possession. The industrial countries of this world are having an epidemic of obesity. The commercial industry is bombarding us with non-nutritious food which looks so very good. Our physical senses cry out for satisfaction. This kind of satisfaction last for only a short moment. Then, as with all sin of self-indulgence guilt slips in. Guilt is magnified with our busyness’ of the day. We don’t really like to take the time to work off the extra calories we self indulge in. The problem is there because we have forgotten Who it is our bodies are for. Let us offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to our God. This entails getting enough sleep, exercise, eating the right foods and whatever else we need to do to promote good health. Let us not see this as self=denial but as an offering unto our God.
