That Settles It

Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

This is my key to faith. We must know what God says. We must trust what He says because of Who He is. We must live in the light of what He says through His Holy Spirit. There is a saying, “God said it, I believe it. That settles it.” When what we see in this physical world seems to be different from what God says, I choose to believe God’s Word rather than what my eyes might see or my ears hear. As Paul wrote we only see through a glass dimly. God has 20/20 vision. I choose to trust His vision over mine. Faith is a choice. I can choose to trust a chair will hold me if I sit in it or I can get tired staying standing because I doubt. Others have sat in the chair and it has held them. When our faith waivers we only need to read what God has done through others. We only need to reflect, as the psalmist did, on what God has already done for us. It is God Who is faithful. Let us lean on Him rather than our own faulty understanding. Read what builds our knowledge of God’s Word and build our faith. Romans 10 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
