Gifts Given

Romans 12:6-8 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

The most important phrase here is “according to the grace given to us.” We do not choose our gifts. God decided and gives us the gifts he wants us to use for His glory. We are not to waste our time desiring gifts others have. We are to use and grow the gifts God give us. No gift is more important than any other. All gifts are needed to spread the glory of God to this world. Granted some gifts seem showier to the world than other gifts but we are not here to be showy to the world. We are here to please and worship God. Let us be thankful for the gifts God chooses to give us and use them with generosity and zeal.
