Brotherly Affection

Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection.

We are to love each other with “brotherly affection.” The word ‘brother” is used as a descriptive word not as a gender word. It could just as well have read “sisterly affectation” The point is we are to love each other as family. How do healthy families love one another? They support one another with encouragement and help. They communicate with one another. They go to the aide of each other and defend each other. They do not put a family member drown or criticize them to others or gossip and share their personal business with others. We must check our words about others and our relationship with others. Do we support and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ or do we talk about them in ways that we wouldn’t talk in front of them? Let us remember we are all in the same family. We all have the same Father Who loves each one of us and grieves when we don’t love one another.
