No Strings

Acts 4:36-37. Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Barnabas gave all the money from the field he sold to the apostles without any strings attached. He didn’t tell them how it was to be used and expected nothing back from his gift. It was a true gift to be used at the discretion of the receivers. We must consider how we give. Do we insist our gifts be used in the way we want? Do we not give if we aren’t sure how the gift will be used? Granted we are to be wise in our giving but when God’s Holy Spirit prompts us to give do we give generously, freely and gladly?
