John 3:30. He must increase, but I must decrease.”

We must ask ourselves how we feel when someone else gets praised for what they do and we don’t. How about when someone else gets the credit for something we did? What about when someone’s ministry gets more notice than ours? Jealousy is a human trait. It was jealousy that caused Cain to slay Able. The human, self-centered, sinful emotion of jealousy is behind much of the pain, suffering and terror in this world. We are told we are not to be in this world but apart from it. This means we are not to give in to self-centered emotions. To conquer jealousy takes a loving commitment to love others as God loves. He wants His best for each of His children. Do we want the best for others only after we’re sure others consider us to be the best?
