Regret and Repent

Matthew 27:3. Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,

There is a difference between repentance and regret. Regret is feeling bad about something and wishing it didn’t happen. Repentance has regret but goes on with confession to God, asking His forgiveness, accepting God’s forgiveness, forgiving yourself and determining to put the past behind while moving forward with God. Judas felt regret. It didn’t turn out the way he wanted. Instead of repentance he felt sorry for himself and ended his life. When we sin we must be sure our regret leads us to real repentance.
