Hidden Sin

Colossians 3:8. But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.

As new creations in God through Jesus we are to put away all sin. Not just the sin of actions that show to others but all sin, all actions and thoughts, that separate us from God. Paul names a few in his letter to the Colossians. We may manage to not act our anger out but it is often raising its ugly head within us. When it does do we allow it to roll around in our minds or do we come against it and replace it with God’s Spirit of forgiveness. Maybe our trouble is the words we used before we were born anew. We may be keeping them from slipping aloud from our mouth but are we still allowing them to be in our thoughts? Sin is more than outward words and actions. Sin can be in our thoughts and our hearts. We need to allow God’s Holy Spirit to reveal in us the inward, hidden sins that would still try to separate us from the fullness of a God.
