Our Cross

1 Peter 1:15. but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

Holy is defined as being set apart for God. We are commanded to be holy, to be set apart for God. That means we are to live for God, His glory and His service. Most of us live for our comfort, our desires, our wants and our own pleasure. We are consumed with self-satisfaction. Jesus said, “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me ”(Matthew 16:24). We seem not to understand what it means to “take up our cross.” Our motivation for living should be to bring glory to God and serve Him, not to get glory or praises for ourselves. When I preach it’s nice for people to say they liked it or it was good but it’s better for them to say it brought them closer to God or they heard God speak to them. Our humanness wants the praises because we want to know we are doing good by the standards of others. Let’s pray for God to mold our wants to please Him in all we think and do.
