1 Peter 5:5. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Part of the definition of humility is a modest estimate of one’s own words. It seems our mouths can not only get us into a lot of trouble, they are able to really hurt others. We like to think we know what is right and what we have to say is more important than what others have to say. When others talk we are busy thinking about what we want to say and often jump in, cutting off the one who is speaking. Jesus asked others questions. He listened to what they said and listened to what they were feeling. This verse doesn’t just apply to those who are younger. It says ‘all of you’ shall have an attitude of humility toward each other. Let us learn our value is no greater than anyone else’s.
