From a Young Teen

This was written by my 14 year old granddaughter. If a majority of our youth are like this we are in good hands

The bible says we need to take up the shield of faith. What this means to me is making the Words of God the main determining factor for every action you take, and remaining at peace whether you know the outcome or not. FUMC has changed the way I look at my faith in God. I was lost before I joined this youth. But about a year ago, I was invited by a blonde headed girl the day we decided to try out the church on a random Sunday. I had no idea just how much this youth group would change me. Throughout this year I have learned so much about faith.
My faith has led me through a memorable journey with God. I recently started going to Bible study and heard so many stories, lessons and even scientific facts that actually connect with God. I mean, I was truly amazed. You never realize how incredible faith can feel until it makes so much sense it knocks you in the head and makes you realize how important it is to know that there is always proof but people will always find other things to change that fact. You just have to believe.
Faith includes noticing the mess, the emptiness and discomfort, and letting it be there until some light returns. Eventually all the pieces fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, trust your heart and know that everything happens for a reason… Ephesians chapter 6 verse 16 says: “in addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one”.
The published definition of faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something; whether its been proven or not. Basically faith is seeing light with your heart when all your eyes see are darkness, like taking the first step when you can’t see the whole stair case, or like taking a path with out always knowing where you will end up. God always leads us to where we need to be not where we want to be. Everything you will soon become is already inside you, you just have to remember that faith in God includes faith in His timing. I know that we are all wanting to know where we will end up at in 10, 20, 30, 50, or even 80 years. but God has a plan for us. We just need to buckle up and take the ride of life and allow God to be our driver.
i know that this thought can be scary. Fear and faith are the same thing. The only difference is fear is heading the wrong direction. Faith is the only thing I know of that is stronger than fear. Faith is to believe what we do not see, and the reward of this is to see what we believe… what I mean by this is that if you live by faith and not fear you will soon come face to face with your one and only Savior.
Disciples of Jesus Christ are given a protective defense shield from God to hinder Satan’s incoming warheads. The Bible calls this protective shield, “Our shield of faith.” God gives us this weapon … but we must learn how to use it as effectively as possible to receive maximized benefit from it.
Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance, and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices in life no more easily made. Find your faith, and take the journey of life that will lead to everlasting life.
Please join me in prayer: Father God thanks for loving us and caring for us. Help us find our faith and never let it go. I pray that you will heal everybody in this room and everybody who couldn’t make it. You made all of us by hand and created everybody with their own uniqueness. Help us all find what we were made for and surf the waves of your faith as we find our way around the struggles in life. Turn our weaknesses into strengths, fears into courage, and greed into peace. You created us and You gave all of us our own passion, personality, talent, fate, strengths, weaknesses, fears, and our whole personality. I am so grateful for this Lord we can search the whole world and never find anybody exactly like us. That’s pretty neat of You to have the ability to do that. Thanks so much. May we all find our faith in You. Amen!
